Investment in Global Commercial Property ‘Resilient’

The volume of investment entering global commercial property markets during 2011 was higher than in 2010, new research has found. Preliminary figures from the Jones Lang LaSalle Global Capital Flows report revealed USD 400 billion (GBP 260.2 billion) was made available as direct investment in commercial real estate markets around the world over the past 12 months – up by 25 per cent on the year before. According to the study, the final quarter of 2011 saw three per cent more money flow into commercial property assets than the previous three-month period, with transaction volumes of over USD 100 billion recorded.

David Green-Morgan, global capital markets research director at the firm, highlighted the Americas in particular, where transaction levels climbed by 60 per cent.

BioMarin to move ‘several hundred’ to San Rafael

SAN RAFAEL Novato-based BioMarin Pharmaceutical Inc. (Nasdaq: BMRN) on Friday said it plans to relocate several hundred employees from its Bel Marin Keys headquarters plant to downtown San Rafael by the end of this year.

BioMarin on Friday morning finalized a 10-year lease for 120,383 square feet of office space in two buildings at San Rafael Corporate Center. The company plans to occupy all of currently the vacant 770 Lindaro St.

South Africa property market ‘to improve in 2012′

The property market in South Africa could be set for positive growth this year, an expert has said. Speaking to property24, managing director of Anne Porter Knight Frank Lanice Steward said she had already seen increased interest in South African real estate from those attending events at show houses compared with 2011. “The attendances at show houses are three or four times higher than the first half of last year,” she remarked, adding that agreed sale prices are now matching up more with list prices, another indicator that the market is beginning to get back on an even keel.
