Mesa Arizona Information & History

Mesa is known for being one of the nation’s fastest growing communities and being one of the top 100 cities in the United States. The city offers serene neighborhoods, beautiful retirement villages, and an economy that is exceptional for those looking for a local employment opportunity. The largest area employer is Boeing’s Helicopter Company, which is one of several companies that moved into the area from California due to the reasonable pricing, the business perks, and all the local investment amenities.

Mesa is the third-largest city in Arizona and the nation’s 40th-largest city. Thanks to Mesa’s attractive lifestyle, more than 430,000 people call Mesa home. The City provides the amenities of a thriving metropolis all while maintaining the feel of a suburban community.

Several Fortune 500 companies including Motorola, AT&T, and General Motors call the Mesa area home. There are several smaller businesses that are in the Mesa area as well as home and small business owners.

The Mesa housing options are nothing short of amazing. The options for a new resident are diverse and affordable. You will find many modest and well kept homes for single families that are located in quiet neighborhoods. There are just as many well established neighborhoods that are famous for newer built homes and upscale villages that offer numerous amenities. Mesa is home to many retirees, families, and professionals. The area is also home to many part time residents that choose to enjoy the normally cold months in the pleasant climate that Mesa offers.

Homes in Mesa are generally in the $140,000 dollar area and residents do not have to worry about any property taxes because the city does not charge them. Housing options include modern apartments, traditional and Spanish single family homes, and retirement communities.

Mesa is home to numerous shopping, cultural, and recreational amenities that are actually some of the more extensive in the entire area. You will find more than 20 golf courses and 47 parks within Mesa city limits. Within a one hour drive you can delight in all the options that the four area lakes will provide you. Mesa is home to their own symphony orchestra, several museums for history and art, and theater troupes for both children and adults.

Mesa has been labeled as the largest of Maricopa County’s community college centers. Mesa Community College perfectly compliments the areas exceptional public school system. Other higher education facilities lie in neighboring Tempe, with the Arizona State University campus.

If you are a sporting fan you may be thrilled to find out that Mesa is the winter home for the Chicago Cubs baseball team. It is also the winter training site for the Anaheim Angels and the San Diego Padres. Within a one hour drive of Mesa you will find several lakes and the Superstition Mountains where you will be able to enjoy boating, swimming, and a host of other activities.
