Goodyear Arizona History & InformationGoodyear is a suburban community that was originally created by the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company around the early 1900’s. The Goodyear Company held a prime interest in the area due to the production of cotton that is used in tire cords. A naval air station was soon created in Goodyear, which led to the birth of Goodyear Aircraft, which was responsible for the building and maintenance of flight decks for naval planes. Today Goodyear Aircraft has a new name, Lockheed Martin, and is responsible for being the largest employer in the community.
The area of Goodyear is part of the Southwest Valley. Goodyear offers easy accessibility to the Phoenix area, specifically downtown. The area sees many new community members each year and is very receptive to there need by offering affordable housing and community living that you can be proud of. This belief system makes the area a prime spot for new constructions as they are constantly looking to make the area more residentially pleasing for every resident. There are several master planned communities in the area including Estrella Mountain Ranch.
Residents of Estrella are treated to a city within a city and are offered a farmer’s market, annual festivals and activities, and Duncan Family Farms. Estrella offers a Jazz festival every fall and in Phoenix, residents are blessed with the Phoenix Symphony Pops Concerts every spring.
The Estrella Mountain Regional Park is famous for numerous activities that include golfing, camping, horseback riding, and hiking. The Goodyear area is also home to such recreational options as the Phoenix International Raceway, White Tanks Regional Parks, several exceptional golf courses, and more. All of these activities plus the added natural beauty of the area help to bring in many tourists and visitors from all over the Valley.
Goodyear is home to many special festivals each year. The taste and tunes music fest offers a diverse blend of music from jazz and blues to modern rock. The lakeside symphony pops concert offers cultural enrichment and beautiful unique music, each year promises a different theme.
