Chandler Arizona Information & History

Known as one of the fastest growing cities in the Southwest, Chandler, along with Tempe and Mesa form the Tri-city area that is located to the Southeast of Phoenix. The economy in Chandler, once agricultural, is now leading the way in the cutting edge areas of electronic technology.

The town was settled by (and named after) Dr. Alexander Chandler, who arrived on Chandler soil in 1887. Chandler noted the amazing beauty the area possessed, and the potential of the land.

Dr.Chandler used the canal system to create one of the most advanced irrigation systems in the U.S. at the time. This system made the dry, rocky desert sand farmable, and agriculture brought many others to the area. The city of Chandler was officially incorporated in 1912.

Chandler still manages to offer a small town atmosphere and is known in the area as being a family community. The area has easy access to an array of cultural activities. There are also many educational and employment based opportunities available throughout the whole Tri-City area.

The city of Chandler is proud to offer their own hospital, a beautiful and sophisticated performing arts center, a world class resort, golf courses of all shapes and sizes, and many other area opportunities.

The downtown district in Chandler has recently been remodeled to see to the changing needs of the area. What once appeared to be a sleepy, comfortable town is now turning into a much more progressive suburban area.

Residential and investment developments are extremely affordable in the Chandler area. New residents will find a wonderful amount of new construction to choose from and many welcoming neighborhoods that are close to work, school, recreation, and shopping.

Thousands of visitors travel to Chandler to stay in one of the beautiful resorts the community offers. Chandler has been listed as one of the greatest vacation spots in the country not only because of these resorts, but because of the beautiful climate. With over 330 sunshine-filled days per year, the average temperature in Chandler is 85 degrees. Visitors and residents shop at many of the high class boutiques and department stores. There are also many community activities all year round.

Chandler is a city of continuous growth and evolution. One man's dream created by his vision is now the home to many satisfied, thankful families.
