Cave Creek Arizona Information & History

Cave Creek is located near the Sonoran Desert, overlooking the Valley of the Sun. Cave Creek is in Northern Maricopa County, northeast of Phoenix, northwest of Scottsdale, and west of Carefree. The community is proud to represent a slower, more comfortable, and laid back lifestyle where the old west coincides with urban sophistication.

The area of Cave Creek is approximately 20 miles north of Phoenix. Due to the higher elevation, residents will find the temperatures to be 15 degrees cooler than if they were in the city. The low humidity allows for activities such as hiking, bicycling, horseback riding, and local tours to occur on a regular basis.

The community of Cave Cree is on 31 square miles of land and was incorporated in 1986. It is one of the younger communities in the greater metro Phoenix area. The town is small and cozy. According to the 2000 census nearly 4,000 residents call Cave Creek home. However, the town’s population has actually increased by 1/3 since the census of 1990.

The serene landscaping decorated with the boulders and a mix of desert dwellers often attracts new residents. Many golf courses are found in the surrounding foothills and help to make the area one of the most beautifully scenic communities you will find in Arizona.

People that love nature and seek to find the city in close proximity but far enough to only worry about seeing the city lights at night will love the idea of calling Cave Creek home.

The town was named for the Cave Creek. The Cave Creek is a small stream that originates in the hills. This stream goes as far as Paradise Valley.

Residents of Cave Creek enjoy many community activities and the quiet small town life they cannot have in a bigger city.
